We fixed the problems that we were having in the search (sorry to those who this affected), and also tweaked a few things here and there to make the search faster. Hopefully it should be working faster and better than ever now.

We received a few notices about a bunch of failed searches (no match found). The search was tweaked to fix this issue. It might run a little slower but should work better. Thanks for the feedback.

We just fixed several bugs in the site, including the bug that prevented the “not in the US” menu from displaying on some browsers. Keep sending those bug reports… We have some major revisions to the site coming up soon, so stay tuned…

So we moved to a new server this past week, on 06/03/07… Some of you may have noticed since the change wasn’t exactly transparent. But anyway, we’ve done a lot of “behind-the-scenes” work, and the site should be running a lot faster now. We’ll have a lot more new stuff on the way… Hopefully we’ll be rolling it all out to you folks soon. Stay tuned!

As some of you may have already noticed, we recently re-launched tworl with a whole new look and a whole lot of new features. We’ve spent months listening to your feedback and re-engineering everything behind the scenes… and this is the long-awaited result! Everything about the site looks and feels different, and you’ll notice a whole bunch of new features, including enhanced mashup data for every tworl chat (even retroactive to your old chats), a more advanced rating system, a smoother process of initiating tworl chats, and many, many more.
As you can inevitably expect with any kind of software, however, the downside of a major overhaul is always the re-introduction of new bugs. So if you notice anything going awry with the site, please don’t hesitate to let us know by using the “contact” link in the footer of each page on the site.
But anyway, this site update took us freakin forever to finish, so hopefully you all will enjoy it. Now that I think about it, this change to the site is so monumental that I should probably send some sort of newsletter out to let everyone know. Or I could just wait for the 3 people that read this blog to spread the word. If I understand it correctly, if 3 people each tell 3 people, who then tell 3 more people and so on, everyone will know about the site update by about 2015. Yeah, so I’m going to go build a newsletter thingy. For the 3 of you that will be responding to my newlsetter with a “i knew that already”, i apologize.

Hi all, sorry for the lack of blog updates. We’re still working on a bunch of things behind the scenes, but I’ve had other things come up over the past few weeks that prevented me from working on tworl as much as I usually do. Anyway, expect some new cool things soon.

Okay, so we’ve been working on a bunch of random things in the background (hence the title of this entry)… The main thing being implementing a brand new design for the entire site, which should be launching shortly. We’re also in the process of moving hosts, which is why we’re holding off on putting up anything major right now. Okay, that’s all I really have to say right now, I just wanted to let you all know what’s going.

So Jay put in the new method of accepting chats that I mentioned in the last post called “Planned Site Upgrades, pt II”…. The basic idea is that in order to formally “accept” a chat now, you have to clickon the “accept chat” button on the tworl chat information page rather than just opening the chat information. Also, all of your “unaccepted” chats will appear in your history for 48 hours… If they are still unaccepted after 48 hours, they will automatically be deleted.

Okay, so we didin’t forget about the things we mentioned in the first “Planned Site Upgrades” post… There have been a few unforeseen issues that have caused us some major delays (and headaches) in regards to changing the way that the chats are initiated. Anyway, I just wanted to say that we haven’t forgot about it, and the seeming lack of updates over the past week is really a result of the amount of time those updates have been taking.
In other news, we’re planning on upgrading the whole method of accepting a chat, probably sometime later today. The basic insipiration is this: we got some requests to add a feature to allow members to more easily keep track of links to tworl chats that they’ve initiated in case you accidentally close the AIM window, or somehow just lose the link. We also received some requests to be able to look at a tworl chat info page for a chat that you’ve been invited to without actually “accepting” it.
So basically, this is what’s going to happen once these changes are up: in order to “accept” a chat, you will have to actually click an “accept this chat” button on the tworl chat info page (this is if you’ve been tworled… if you were the person that initiated the tworl chat, it is assumed that you’ve accepted the chat). Additionally, all of your ‘unaccepted’ tworls, meaning any tworl in which you are a participant and both people have not accepted, will appear in your tworl history for 24 hours. After 24 hours, if both people haven’t accepted it, it will be automatically deleted.
